“ Fast, authentic southern Chinese cafe style food. Service is good, nothing to complain to rave about. ”
“ 1. Love the fact that we were seated immediately 2. Food was good 3. Good AC 4. nearby hotel and UC davis campus 5. Great location 6. All staffs were Friendly! ”
“ My fiance and I decided to drive up to Davis to grab Shah's initially but found out the whole complex was under renovations. So we deciddd to grab Chinese. We used to live in Davis and never saw this place before and decided to give it a try! My fiance and I loved their salt pepper pork chops, pork belly which was super crispy and I loved their walnut prawns! The only critique we have is that we did not enjoy the spicy green beans as much. It wasn't flavorful enough and it was just a preference for us. The green beans were almost like steamed like rather than stir fried. But we ordered a lot of food and enjoyed everything about it. The lady who was our waitress was super friendly and she gave us a great service! I really liked the interior of the restaurant since it looked super Chinese and gave me the confidence that this will be authentic Chinese food! We will definitely be coming back when we are in the area! ”
“ New menu, more options that include more Cantonese style dishes as well as the Hong Kong baked dishes. Most of the dishes come with a free soda or honey lemon tea. Greeted when walked in and was able to sit anywhere we like. The baked dishes are a classic Hong Kong style dish. Although it takes a bit of time, it has good portions and it is delicious. ($11.50 - $12.95) The appetizer is very reasonable priced, so you're able to get a variety of things, from scallion pancakes to chicken wings to vegetables. The place is super spacious, it is clean. With their new updated menu, there are many options to satisfy everyone! ”
“ Not to be mistaken for Tim's Hawaiian on 2nd or 3rd, this is a Cantonese style restaurant. The servers are nice but have a little bit of a hard time speaking English. Food comes out slow. So not great place to come if you're in a rush but no doubt one of my favorite spots to eat out because they have filling meals for extremely reasonable prices ($10). ”
“ Overall the place provided great food, tasty with quick service. My Hainanese chicken rice plate was very tasty, but the chicken had too many bones to be thoroughly enjoyed. ”
“ I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Hong Kong-style restaurant in Davis, and I can't stop raving about the delightful experience! From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance exuded warmth, making it a perfect spot for a cozy meal. Unagi Rice Bowl - an absolute revelation; each bite was a harmonious dance of flavors that left my taste buds in awe. The eel was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful, complementing the rice in the most delicious way. It's a must-try for anyone visiting this gem. Pork chop baked rice - a hearty and comforting dish that instantly became a personal favorite. The savory pork combined with the cheesy goodness on a bed of perfectly baked rice created a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. One delightful surprise was the complimentary lemon tea they offered. It added a refreshing touch to the meal and showcased the restaurant's commitment to going above and beyond to enhance the dining experience. What sets this place apart, besides the incredible food, is the affordability. In a town where dining out can sometimes break the bank, this restaurant offers a fantastic menu at a surprisingly reasonable price point. It's a win-win for your taste buds and your wallet! The attentive and friendly staff deserve special mention as well. Their service was top-notch, making my visit even more enjoyable. In summary, if you're in Davis and craving authentic Hong Kong-style cuisine that won't break the bank, look no further. This restaurant is a hidden gem, and I can't wait for my next visit to savor more of their delectable offerings! ”
“ Came here around lunch time and it was relatively empty but started to pick up at noon. The interior was very simple and clean. I was seated immediately and decided to order the NY steak with black pepper sauce rice plate and got the honey lemon tea as a drink. The order came out promptly on a sizzling plate, which I accidentally did burn myself touching so do be cautious. The sauce came in a separate gravy boat and I doused the whole plate with it. The steak was a very substantial in size and there was plenty of fluffy white rice to pair with it. Don't come here and expect a medium rare steak though, it's sitting on a hot sizzling plate so it's going to be well done but that's the nature of the dish! The steak was sitting on on white onions so they tendered up nicely. The steak itself had a some nice char to it and there was a bit of fat on the cut so it was not dry which I enjoyed. The sauce was savory, salty, and tasted great with the plain rice! I expected to pay extra for the honey lemon tea but it was free with the meal so that was a huge plus! It was sweet and very refreshing. I will definitely be coming back here to try the other dishes and sauce options! Also random side note, they seem to speak canto and mando here! ”
“ I am so bewildered as to why I've never been here before! Amazing food, super cheap prices, generous portions, and the sweetest aunties running the show ever. This place is located downtown right by Urban Body and by the Amtrak station! It's tucked away, but there's plenty of parking to go around. There's also a lot of seating inside! Broke my heart seeing it so empty tonight for how great of a place it is. The food came out super quick and was piping hot!! Nothing left sitting out here. Each rice plate comes with a free drink of your choice from a display they have: a water bottle or a canned soda! For $10.50 a rice plate, that's a mind-blowingly good deal. Hainanese Chicken Rice Plate: Immediate wow factor! They nailed that bright yellow color beautifully, and the flavor was absolutely there. Their ginger scallion sauce is top tier and so flavorful, but not overpowering! Honey Walnut Shrimp Rice Plate: Super generous portions right off the bat. Some places skimp out, but not here! Shrimp was crispy and saucy and piping hot and fresh when it came out, 11/10. Salt & Pepper Wings: 12 wings for $12.95 is unheard of nowadays!! It's crazy how good the wings tasted, I think knowing that they're so cheap made it taste even better. Service was amazing!! The auntie running the show took care of us right when we walked in. We initially picked a different table, but she moved us down one because she was worried that the breeze from the open door would be too cold. So sweet & thoughtful and she was right! She was so kind I'd come back just for her, she bagged up our to-go orders for us and everything! Can't wait to come back and try even more off the menu!! ”
